A man is poor who knows nothing. Sometimes I have said that a man ought to live so that he did not live for himself or for the truth of God. But now I say something different and something more, that a man who would possess this poverty ought to live as if he does not even know that he is not in any way living for himself or for the truth or for God. Rather, he should be so free of all knowing that he does not know or experience that God lives in him. For when man was established in God’s everlasting being, there was no different life in him. What was living there was himself. So I say that a man should be free of his own knowing as he was when he was not.
Only the hand that erases can write the truth.
