Burst – Susan Steinberg

I haven’t found a writer so expectedly and devastatingly powerful in many a revolution. I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t even know she was especially good, or why people like her work. I don’t imagine the majority of her readers fully realize just how very good she is. Nor do I imagine she much cares, so long as she can keep doing it, and pay her bills, which it seems she does, and as a writer. My suspicion is no one is more surprised by her success than she herself. There was never any decision, career move, or strategizing. She never planned to be fucking amazing. It just happened. Which is exactly what indicates she may be our last remaining literary artist. Everyone more is less.
