The skin of the animal looked like an animal curled into sleep

           What are those mouth sounds you mentioned

Dry throated at the window as they split the skull

           Something like a whale rib we found on the beach

Can you imagine something so smooth and unfathomable

           What fathoms it reached

The hose flushes the pavement clean, steady as a heartbeat
